Professor Snape

Defense Against The Dark Arts Master

· Illustration
broken image

Severus Snape from the Harry Potter novels was nowhere near as devastatingly dashing as the one Alan Rickman conjured up. Alan was absolutely delicious in the role of Professor Snape.

As always, I took some standard photo of Snape I found on the web, added the red lunar eclipse in the background, changed the color palette, and gave him some flowing robes. The actual oil painting is 10x15" oil on board, this is just a detail of it. In my final corrections, the hardest part of the painting was finessing the wand blast by hand to resemble the one I did in ten seconds in my Photoshop comps!

Note: Sadly, Alan Rickman died on January 14, 2016
